Wanda Fowler

Wanda Nelson Fowler, elected as Chairman in March 2023, has been involved in the Carteret County Republican Party since moving to the County in 1999. A native North Carolinian and a life-long Republican, Wanda has also had a career in leadership. From president of the student body at her alma mater (Western Carolina University), to the first chairwoman of the Jackson County Council for Women, to Director of Leadership Development for Carteret County Schools, to Chairman of the Town of Cape Carteret's Board of Adjustment, to 20 years as a school leader and principal.

With 25,000+ registered Republicans in Carteret County, Chairman Fowler takes her responsibility to those residents very seriously, working for their voices to be heard. Every step of the way, it has been (and continues to be) her goal to empower people to build on their talents and work for their passions while promoting conservative values and the tenets of the Republican Party. The goal permeates through the CCGOP with efforts to build precinct power and grassroots recruitment.

Prior to being elected chairwoman, Wanda served as an officer in the CCGOP under five different chairmen; worked as Credentials Committee Chairman in three different CCGOP biennial election cycles; and was regional coordinator for the RNCs door-to-door campaign to elect Donald Trump in 2016.

Michele spends her time in all things red. Red Party, red shoes, red lipstick, and RED Club. The redder the better. She goes from taking minutes for NCGOP (she's the NCGOP Secretary), to balancing the CCGOP books. In between she keeps CCRW in line as the Parliamentarian, or as they like to call her, "The Enforcer", and is currently serving as the 1st Vice Chairman of the 3rd Congressional District, and NCFRW Assistant Secretary. Did we mention she was also the Vice Chairwoman of the North Carolina Republican Party, and retired from that position in 2019?
