RNC Statement on October Jobs Report

WASHINGTON - Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the October Jobs Report.

"After months of failed policies and bad jobs reports, the one person who does not deserve credit for creating jobs is Joe Biden. After Biden and Democrats spent months paying Americans to stay home, Republican states led the way in lowering the unemployment rate and getting Americans back to work. To add to his list of failures, Biden announced an unconstitutional mandate threatening the jobs of millions of workers, Americans are paying more for everything from gas to groceries, and Democrats are pushing through trillions in spending and a tax cut for the wealthiest Americans. Voters soundly rejected Biden's failed economic agenda at the ballot box this week and will do so again in 2022."

Key Takeaways:
  • The jobs report provides little consolation to the more than 4 million Americans who lost their job during the pandemic and have yet to get it back.
  • Just last week, Biden announced a vaccine mandate that threatens the jobs of millions of workers and promises to make the supply chain crises even worse.
    • One poll found that 7 in 10 unvaccinated workers would likely quit their jobs rather than adhere to the vaccine mandate.
  • U.S. economic growth is falling short of expectations under Biden, having suffered a "sharp deceleration" in the third quarter.
  • The unemployment rate didn't drop for all Americans - in fact, the unemployment rates for Black and Asian Americans didn't budge.
  • The unemployment rates for women and Black men actually increased in October.
  • There are still 7.4 million unemployed American workers, 1.7 million more than when the pandemic began.
  • The American workers who are returning to work are doing so in spite of Joe Biden and Democrats' policies, not because of them.
  • Now that Biden's policy of paying Americans more not to work has expired, it's no surprise more Americans are getting back to work.
  • There continues to be a worker shortage at a time when Americans are desperate to get back to work.
  • Democrats don't care about workers or the middle class - the largest part of the spending bill House Democrats are trying is a massive tax cut for the rich in blue states.
  • Biden's economic policies are continuing to squeeze hardworking families as we continue to see higher prices for groceries, gas, and goods.
    • Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, was asked about Americans struggling with skyrocketing gas prices. Her response? "Ha ha ha, that is hilarious!" The American people deserve better - they are tired of liberal elites blaming others for their failed policies.
  • Voters know Republicans are leading the way. Virginia has elected a Republican Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and voted to send a majority of Republicans to serve in the House of Delegates.
  • The last thing the American people need is trillions of new taxes and wasteful spending - Congress must reject Biden's radical agenda.

REDISTRICTING

House Redistricting Plan 2021/HSA-9
House Bill 976/SL2021-175

Carteret County will remain in District 13. However, instead of sharing the district with Jones County, we will now have a portion of Craven, splitting Havelock between us and District 3.
Senate Redistricting Plan 2021/SBK-7
Senate Bill 739/SL2021-173

Carteret County will remain in District 2. The district, which was originally 3 counties (Carteret, Craven, & Pamlico), will now contain 8! Those counties include: Carteret, Pamlico, Hyde, Washington, Chowan, Martin, Halifax, and Warren.
Congressional Redistricting Plan 2021/CST-13
While our district number has changed, from 3 to 1 (1st in NC!), we still have 17 counties. Well, 15 and a portion of 2. We've lost a bit of Onslow, all of Duplin, but gained more of Pitt County, and added Gates. Luckily, we get to keep our current Congressman.

Congratulations to the newly elected (or re-elected) municipal officials!

I mourn for American lives lost during Biden's bungled Afghanistan withdrawal and for the Americans he left behind.

I will not let the media bury this story with the next news cycle.

I can't protest in the streets every day.
