2023 County Convention a Success!

The 2023 Carteret County GOP Convention held at East Carteret High School was, as the title states, a great success! We heard from many candidates and surrogates from across the state to include: Hal Weatherman for NC Lt. Governor; Tom Murry, for NC Attorney General, and also spoke on behalf of Judge Jefferson Griffin for NC Supreme Court; Patty Morey for Rep. Jon Hardister, running for NC Labor Commissioner; Judge Bob Cherry; Gus Willis for Superior Court Judge, and also spoke on behalf of Judge Valerie Zackery for NC Court of Appeals; Michele Nix for NCGOP Vice Chairwoman Susan Mills, seeking re-election; Charles Dingee for State Auditor; and many others.

3rd District Chairman Dave Wickersham served as the Convention Chairman, supported by Convention Parliamentarian Gus Willis from Craven County. They kept the business in order and conducted our 2023-2025 Officer Elections. At-Large Members and Delegates to the State & District Conventions were also elected. Did we mention all were unanimously elected, by acclimation?!

The Convention attendance was near record-breaking for our County, and new faces were welcomed! The enthusiasm was contagious and we can't wait to see what's in store for the County GOP under our new leadership.

Thank you to all the voters and elected officials, from municipal to statewide, that came out on a rainy Saturday afternoon to participate and support the Carteret County GOP. And, congratulations to our new officers: Chairman Wanda Fowler; 1st Vice Chairman Dianne Tetreault; 2nd Vice Chairman Dan Smith; Secretary Juli Cosgrove; Assistant Secretary Brooke Barnhill; Treasurer Michele Nix; Assistant Treasurer Jennifer Mann.

Onward and Upward!
